Dear Parents,

The purpose of this communication is to notify you that HSI-Sugar Land has been selected to participate in the 2019 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) English II field test.  Testing is mandatory for campuses selected.  Field-test data will be used by the state to develop high-quality assessments.  Students currently enrolled in English II will take the exam on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.  Performance on the exam will not have any impact on a student’s English II course average or overall GPA.

Sincerely,

HSI-Sugar Land

Dear Grade Parents/Guardians,

You are cordially invited to attend the 2019-20 High school course selection Parent/Student/Counselor Meeting on February 4, 2019 – March 6, 2020. Dear Parents:

Beginning January 28 through February 8, 9th and 10th grade students will take tests called Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®).  We give students MAP tests to determine your child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year and from year to year in the areas of Reading, Language, and Math.  Your child will take the tests on a Chromebook.

MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to be appropriate for your child’s level of learning.  As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing.  Additionally, since MAP tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning and growth, it’s easy for teachers to identify strengths and weaknesses and plan instruction accordingly to meet your child’s needs.

Good Morning Parents of Current High School Parents/Guardians & Students,

The following powerpoint presentations were shared with our parents in the parent/guardian college & career info nights. If you were unable to attend the meeting, please read over the presentation and contact your counselor with any questions.

The HSI-Sugar Land counseling team will be meeting with all high school students Spring semester to begin the process of transitioning from one grade level to another. It is important to know that this is a very fluid process. We want our students to begin planning and preparing for their futures. This is a multi-step process that will take place over the course of the year.

Students will have the opportunity to develop their future plans and courses for the 9th-grade year with the assistance of the counselors on January 27th, 2020 – March 6th, 2020.

Here is the link to schedule your 1-on-1 meeting by YOUR LAST NAME with your counselor

We believe that collaboration between parents, students, and campus staff are critical for the success of our students, so please do not hesitate to contact me at aciftci@harmonytx.org if you have any questions.
