Students who did not meet satisfactory performance standards on one or more STAAR End of Course exam(s) are required to continue testing as mandated by state law.  Below is the schedule for the next testing opportunity. Students who do not participate or are not successful in June, their next testing opportunity will be in December 2019.

All testing will take place at HSI-Sugar Land.  Please arrive at the check-in time specified above and enter through the front doors of the school.  Students must bring picture identification (school ID card, driver’s license, or state issued ID card) to the testing session.  Students are allowed to bring a quiet snack and a bottle of water. Cell phones will not be allowed in the testing rooms but can be stored at check-in with campus personnel.  Students may leave after completing their test.

 

Summer study sessions to help students prepare for the exams will be held on campus Monday through Thursday starting June 10 through June 20.  Following is the schedule:

●      English I and English II: 9 am – 12 pm

●      Algebra I: 11 am – 2 pm

●      Biology: 11 am – 2 pm

Beginning June 12, parents can access their child’s STAAR results and a variety of resources to support summer learning at home by visiting the Texas Education Agency assessment website at TexasAssessment.gov.

To access your child’s scores, log in to the student portal using the Unique Access Code provided by the school, or by using the “Look-Up” feature on the TEA website.

On June 12, you can visit TexasAssessment.gov to learn more about your child's #STAAR performance and how you can provide additional support at home.

You can find the President’s Awards Criteria below.

President’s Award for Educational Excellence Gold):
  • GPA 4 and above (weighted)
  • PSAT or SAT percentile 90 and above
President’s Award for Educational Achievement (Silver):
  • This award recognizes students that show outstanding educational growth, improvement, commitment or intellectual development in their academic subjects but do not meet the criteria for the Educational Excellence Award. Its purpose is to encourage and reward students who give their best effort, often in the face of special obstacles. Criteria for this award is developed at each school.

The following are examples of criteria for which the President’s Award for Educational Achievement may be presented:

  • Show tremendous growth but did not meet all the criteria for the President’s Award for Educational Excellence.
  • Demonstrate unusual commitment to learning in academics despite various obstacles.
  • Maintain a school record that would have met the school’s selection criteria for the President’s Award for Educational Excellence but illness, personal crisis, or special needs prevented the student from maintaining such high standards despite hard work.

HSI-SL Counseling team will hold a Career Fair for 9th and 10th Grade students at HPS Central Office on May 21st. All students MUST return the Parent Permission Form for the event in order for them to participate.

AP exams missed due to the school closure on Friday, May 10 have been rescheduled in accordance with College Board’s policies. There are no additional fees that need to be paid.  Following are the make-up dates.
