In the bustling hallways of Harmony School of Innovation-Euless, a fifth-grader named Ridhaan sits at his desk, orange pencil in hand, carefully calculating multiplication problems while manipulating colorful interlocking cubes. Surrounded by 3D printers and STEM equipment in his classroom, the focused 10-year-old represents exactly what Harmony Public Schools aims to cultivate: a student prepared for college and career through rigorous, hands-on learning.

Ridhaan recently earned recognition as a National Math Stars Pathfinder recipient, joining an elite 10-year program designed to nurture mathematical talent from elementary through high school. The achievement reflects both his natural aptitude and the supportive environment Harmony has created.

"Ridhaan is an exceptionally smart and highly skilled math student," said Kenya Standokes, his fifth-grade math teacher. "He demonstrates outstanding higher-level thinking skills and approaches challenging problems with clarity and confidence."

Ridhaan's passion for learning ignited early. As a 4-year-old, he astonished his family by memorizing countries and their capitals, effortlessly piecing together global puzzles. A short YouTube video (Click Here to Watch)  captures this precocious talent: little Ridhaan confidently assembling a world map, naming nations with the ease of a seasoned geographer. This early fascination with geography soon expanded to languages and STEM, where his problem-solving skills truly shone.

The journey to National Math Stars recognition began in third grade when homeroom teacher Thien Tran spotted Ridhaan's potential and recommended the program after seeing his consistent high performance. His father discovered the opportunity through school communications and reached out to the program coordinator at National Math Stars for guidance.

"The environment was Harmony, which led us to the National Math Stars," Ravi, Ridhaan's father, explained. "He was getting good grades and Tran said, 'He's good in math. We should apply.'"

Ridhaan's exceptional abilities have been evident throughout his elementary years. Richa Yadav, his fourth-grade math teacher, recalled his remarkable classroom presence and the profound impact he had on his learning environment.

"He was an extraordinarily smart and intelligent student who demonstrated a remarkable love for reading and exploration in fourth grade," Yadav said. "His curiosity and thoughtful reasoning consistently stood out during our group discussions. Ridhaan's questions and explanations often reflected thinking well above the fourth-grade level."

Those advanced thinking skills continue to impress his current teachers.  Standokes noted that Ridhaan "can work through complex math tasks and explain his reasoning in a clear, detailed way that shows deep understanding. His strong analytical abilities make him a standout in the classroom."

The impact of Ridhaan's engagement extends far beyond his individual achievement. "His insights not only deepened our conversations but also motivated and engaged his classmates," Yadav observed. "It was truly a pleasure to have him in class."

At Harmony, Ridhaan's abilities flourished in a nurturing environment focused on innovation. Enrolled in the Gifted and Talented program, he excelled in all classes but found particular joy in mathematics. The school's commitment to comprehensive STEM education is evident in initiatives like the Euless Math Competition, created by HSI-Euless Principal Rasim. Damirov aims to provide elementary students with opportunities similar to those available to middle and high school students.

"Every time they have any math competitions, he was one of the winners," his father noted. "It was held right here at school, and I can't wait to participate again this January."

Ridhaan's competitive success has been remarkable and consistent. In his first attempt at the Euless Math Competition, he secured second place among peers from third to fifth grade-an achievement that boosted his confidence and solidified his love for competitive mathematics. His dedication paid off spectacularly in January 2026 when he claimed first place in the same competition, demonstrating significant growth and mastery of advanced mathematical concepts.

His academic excellence extends beyond mathematics. On Jan. 8, 2026, Ridhaan captured first place in the Scripps Spelling Bee for grades 3-5 at his school, showcasing the breadth of his intellectual capabilities. Just two days later, he claimed victory in the Euless Math Contest, cementing his reputation as a well-rounded academic achiever.

These victories represent more than personal success; they showcase Harmony's dedication to fostering academic excellence at every level and across multiple disciplines.

Ridhaan's mathematical interests extend far beyond classroom assignments and competitions. He enjoys solving puzzles from "The Moscow Puzzles," a book included in his National Math Stars welcome package, which he describes as endlessly entertaining. The complex problems within its pages provide the kind of intellectual stimulation that keeps him engaged for hours, turning challenging mathematical concepts into playful exploration.

The National Math Stars Pathfinder program offers a comprehensive path that includes summer camps, internship opportunities, college readiness preparation, and access to a network of like-minded peers. For Ridhaan's family, the program represents a natural extension of Harmony's educational philosophy and long-term commitment to student development.

"I think with their summer programs and their internship programs, he will really get something," his father said. "It will give them focus and will keep the noise away. When they get focused, this program is going to build a nice peer network for them and they will really grow with the program."

Behind Ridhaan's success is a supportive family that recognizes and nurtures his exceptional gifts. His parents understand the importance of providing opportunities that match his abilities while maintaining realistic expectations for his continued growth. The family's commitment to his education extends beyond academic achievement to encompass character development and global awareness.

Inspired by innovative figures like Elon Musk, Ridhaan dreams big about his future contributions to society. He aspires to attend prestigious institutions like Harvard or MIT, following in the footsteps of family members who have succeeded in Boston's academic corridors. His cousin works at Harvard, while her husband is affiliated with MIT, providing both inspiration and practical insight into the path ahead.

"I want to be innovative and do something groundbreaking," Ridhaan said, his eyes lighting up at the thought of artificial intelligence trends and emerging technologies that will shape tomorrow's world.

The selection as a National Math Stars Pathfinder validates HSI-Euless's comprehensive approach to STEM education. The campus, equipped with 3D printers, hands-on learning stations, and project-based curriculum, provides the technological foundation and collaborative environment necessary for students like Ridhaan to excel.

"The school is really helping him a lot," his father said. "With the name Innovation, I would say they are doing justification. Kids are really getting what they signed up for."

"When I say that my son is a National Math Star, it's really joyful, a proud feeling," Ridhaan's father added. "It seems like he's going to get a bright future."

As Ridhaan continues tackling complex math challenges and advancing ambitious robotics projects, he embodies Harmony's vision of leading students from the classroom into the world as productive and responsible citizens. His National Math Stars recognition, combined with his recent victories in both spelling and mathematics competitions, represents not just individual achievement but the success of Harmony's mission to prepare each student for college and career through collaborative, caring education focused on STEM excellence.

Ridhaan's story transcends awards and recognition—it's about a young scholar who transforms puzzles into possibilities and challenges into opportunities for growth. As he prepares for more competitions, advanced coursework, and continued exploration of mathematical and linguistic concepts, one truth emerges clearly: this young innovator is positioned to make meaningful contributions to his community and beyond, one equation at a time.
