Summer Dual Credit registration has started.
Dual Credit courses are courses offered for dual credit from agreements between high schools, universities and community colleges whereby a high school student enrolls in a college course and simultaneously earns college credit and high school credit for the course.
To ensure that students are taking meaningful dual credit courses, they need to be aware of the requirements and degree/certification requirements in their field of interest as well as their two-year college and their future four-year college. By tracking students’ college coursework along with their high school graduation plan, students should be aware of their progress toward the college goals. We have been seeing and helping students during our course selection one-on-one meetings and Summer Dual Credit courses for the last three weeks.
We have an agreement with both HCC and Lone Star. A student can take the Dual Credit from both colleges as long as they apply online and create an account.
HCC is free for all students and more convenient for in-person classes. You need to complete and turn in HCC Dual Credit Forms, Meningitis Shot Record and Test scores (SAT, ACT, or TSI).
Lone Star charges only service fee based on the number of credits and is more convenient for Online classes. You need to turn in LSCC Exceptional Admission Form, LSCC Parental Consent Form and Test Scores (SAT, ACT, or TSI).
I attached both of the colleges’ registration forms. Please fill out the forms and turn them into your assigned counselor or Mrs. Dok by this coming Friday, March 9 at 4:00 pm. All courses will be approved based on the College Core Curriculum.
